Tramonto Residence explores the relationship between architecture, landscape, and California light. Rather than treating the home as an isolated object, the design responds to the site's topography, mature vegetation, and expansive views, allowing the landscape to become an active participant in daily life.
The residence is organized around a sequence of indoor and outdoor rooms that dissolve traditional boundaries between inside and outside. Large expanses of glass slide away to connect living spaces with terraces, gardens, courtyards, and the infinity pool, creating a continuous spatial experience shaped by climate and season.
The material palette reflects a commitment to permanence and restraint. Limestone, natural wood, steel, and glass are assembled with precision, allowing texture, proportion, and light to become the primary architectural expression. Deep overhangs, custom wood screens, and carefully considered orientation moderate sunlight while reinforcing the home's horizontal relationship to the landscape.
Throughout the project, architecture serves as a framework for everyday rituals rather than spectacle. Arrival, gathering, entertaining, quiet reflection, and movement through the house unfold as a series of carefully choreographed moments. The result is a residence that feels simultaneously expansive and intimate, grounded in the elemental qualities of Southern California while designed for lasting relevance.
